I went out again to Draper this morning for a nice little ride. I had decided previously that I would do the
Clark's TT (Time Trial) today to see how much fitness I had lost because of my broken thumb. To all those out there who don't know what I time trial is, it is your best effort over a relatively short course. In this case it is how fast you can go up Clark's trail out in Draper. It turns out that I wasn't as slow as I thought; I was only about 1:30 slower than my fastest time. Not too shabby. My LT (Lactate Threshold) increased by 4 BPM since my last test. I also went 1 BPM higher than I ever had before too. That may not sound like much but it does set a new max HR for yours truly. Click the Garmin Connect link at the end of this post for proof!
After the ride, I looked down at my tires and found dozens of thorns poking out of the tires. I had never picked up so many thorns. I counted 20 in the back and 24 in the front. This doesn't include the thorns that had broken off either. There were dozens more of those! This is one of many reasons why I run tubeless tires. Even more than 12 hours later, my tires are still holding air!
