- Attends all my races without complaining. 20+ races per year.
- Takes awesome pictures at each one.
- Water bottle hand offs at each one.
- Always fixes delicious meals and has them waiting when I get home from work.
- Back rubs. Lots of them.
- Does her calling without complaint.
- Volunteers (it was 100 percent her idea) to wake up 2 hours early so she can drive me 20 miles up the canyon so I can do one of my favorite rides.
- Leaves work to take me to the hospital.
- Goes to the store to fill prescriptions.
- Takes me to the specialty hand guy.
- She's pretty much just rad.
Which leads us to our next segment:
Today's ride was awesome! I started at the very top of Big Cottonwood Canyon at Guardsman Pass.
Lovely view of Big Cottonwood Canyon at sunrise.

Singletrack goodness

You can see the trail down in the little canyon and the Salt Lake valley in the background. Right after that switchback that's visible in the picture is where the event occurred that I'll explain next.

So if you go look at details from my ride you will notice just after 2 hours my speed goes from about 25 MPH to 0 suddenly. I landed a jump and my handlebar twisted in the stem sending me flying over the bars. Long story short: I broke my hand. They said they needed to repair it ASAP so I am going in for surgery tomorrow where I will get a few pins that stick out of my hand for the next month or so. I guess I won't be racing in my final race of the season tomorrow!
You can see the break here. Just follow the pain arrow.

And finally the minor (by comparison) road rash

So there you have it. She can deal with all this crap and then some with a smile. She's pretty much the best person ever!

I AGREE! Your wife is pretty awesome. Sorry about the hand. I told Mike about it and his only comment was, "Crap! He was supposed to take me biking."
You do have the BEST wife ever! I'm glad you know it. Sorry about your hand. Get better soon!
Sorry about your fall. Glad thats all that happend though! I agree...you have a pretty awesome wife!
She is awesome, except she won't let you get an adorable kitty cat. I know where you can find one!
She is truly awesome. You lucky SOB. Thanks for the tour of your injurious bike ride tonight. Happy healing. Oh, forgot to ask you who operated on your hand. I wonder if my hand surgeon is even still alive.... he had an amazing toupee. Is that how you spell toupee?? Toupe'? I have no idea.
Cheryl has always been a great trooper. You owe her big time:)
Kate - His name is Dr. Jason Hancey. Everyone said he was the best, but then again every doctor is the best, right?
Wow, thanks for the post. Love ya Babe!
I think Cheryl is the best too! How did you get so lucky? :) I hope your hand heals quickly.
Cute! I want a "shout out" on my blog (someone tell Jake). Cheryl is pretty great though. Sorry about the hand.
