I've seen this on a few other blogs and thought it would be fun! Feel free to leave a memory you have had with me or Brian.
1. As a comment on this post, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you know me a little or a lot, anything you remember!
2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you.

Wasatch Crest
Last night, I decided it was about time to go on one of my all time favorite rides, the Wasatch Crest. This is a fun trail that starts at the very top of Big Cottonwood Canyon, and rides the ridge between Big Cottonwood and Millcreek Canyons. It is very scenic, and very high, starting at an altitude of 9,000 feet to over 10,000 feet, so it is also much cooler than down in the valley.
Eventually you come across a point near Desolation lake (see previous blog entry) where you can ride back down into Big Cottonwood, or down into Millcreek. I opted for the Millcreek route last night, since this means one can make it a 24 mile ride! Pure Awesomeness!

This is the technical data from the trail. Notice the total descent.

And here we have the Google Earth image.

All Clean!
Every once in a while, we decide that it is time to give the dogs a bath. They hate every minute of it, especially Kylie who tries to jump out at any chance she gets. Sydney will just sit there and take it.

Race update........
It's time for another race update. This might be my last race of the season, since I will be out of town for Youth Conference, and the other remaining races will be out of state. I doubt I will make it to those.
Anyway, this course is one of the more challenging courses, since it has some very steep climbs, and the downhills are very narrow, twisty, and rocky. You have to be a very good technical rider, as well as a good aerobic rider to do well.
The race started well, and I quickly found myself in 6th place going into the first small climb. I was even passed by a guy that I consistently beat in every race that we had done together. I though to myself "oh no you di-unt!" That's when I put it in gear and passed him on that first climb, as well as a few others. Then came the loooong climbing part. The race organizer said that some of the climbs have a 20 percent grade going up. Very steep. I was riding side by side with another rider for a few miles, before he started slowing down. At this point, we were fighting for 3rd place.
Here I am passing the guy that eventually won the age group above mine. He slowed me up a bit on the downhill just before this shot, but eventually passed me again. No big deal since he isn't in my division.
Here I am just finishing my second and final lap.

And the results...... I managed to hang on to 3rd place, for my first podium victory ever! And what did I get for my efforts? A sweet 15 dollar gift certificate to a bike shop, worth much less than the entrance fee to the race! Oh, and a ribbon.

Miss you Becky!
Four years ago today Brian's younger sister Becky passed away in a tragic car accident. I have been thinking a lot about Becky lately. Last night, Brian and I were flipping through channels when we came across the movie Dodgeball. Brian commented on how he went to see that movie with Becky. Then, he said to me, you didn't really get to know Becky, did you? Unfortunately I did not have the opportunity to know Becky as well as others. However, I feel very blessed for the times I was able to spend with Becky. I remember the first time I met her was at the Thomas home on Christmas waiting for Spencer to call home from his mission. The only real one on one time I ever had with Becky was at one of Brians basketball games. I treasure that memory and am so grateful I had the opportunity to sit and chit chat with Becky while watching the basketball game. I hear stories of Becky all the time from random people. Becky touched so many people during her short time here. I only hope I can touch half as many people as she touched. Whenever the Thomas family gets together I think, if only Becky were here. I look forward to the day when we can hang out together. I know you are watching over us. Brian and I miss you Becky and we can't wait to see you again!
