Race Update

Memorial Day each year for Cheryl and me is spent at the Stan Crane Memorial XC race in Draper. This is one of the most competitive races of the year and usually the biggest turnout. This is one of the races for which I train all year.

Unfortunately I thought the race started at 10, instead of 9 so my warm up was cut a little short, but I still fought a good fight despite missing out on a proper warm up. I ended up placing 10th out of 28 riders and met my goal of riding 45 minute laps.

Look Ma, no hands!

Of course what race would be complete without the standard river crossing?

The water bottle hand off is one of the most important jobs at the race!

It was right about here that I broke one of the spokes on my rear wheel. Good thing I was only a few hundred yards from the finish!

Nice job on a great race. I thought it was an awesome course and a good race. I was happy breaking 1 hour, but wish I could be more competitive as far as placing goes. Gotta keep riding and training.
