Memorable date

I was going through some pictures and found one that reminded me of a date Brian and I had. Let me share the story. . .
Brian called me to see if I wanted to go on a Sunday evening drive. (This was probably our 3rd or 4th date) Brian came and picked me up and we drove down to Utah County. Brian said there were some hot springs over by Utah Lake he wanted to see if he could find. Well, we never found the hot springs but we did find a lot of mud! So much mud in fact, Brian was able to get his truck stuck. He tried to get out and instead, was sinking deeper. Brian decided to call his friend Ian to come help. We probably spent 2 - 3 hours trying to get out of the mud. Finally around 1:30 (in the morning) Ian took me home. Yes, Ian took me home, Brian stayed with his truck. He didn't want anything to happen to it during the night. Brian spent some hard earned cash on a tow truck the next morning and I ruined a good pair of shoes. I must not have been too upset about the shoes , I did go out with him again :)

Enjoy the picture. Notice Brian is taller than the truck!

Rock the Canyons

Saturday was the last race in the Intermountain Cup race series. It certainly was a tough race. For some reason they decided to start the race at noon (because it's the hottest time of day?) which made it even more interesting.

Long story short, our hero Brian took 4th in the race (his hardest race of the year) and 5th overall in the series. He even got a pink ribbon for his effort.

The race was at the Canyons Resort in Park City, Utah. The course was 16.5 miles long, which might not seem that long, but throw in over 1,000 feet of elevation gain per lap and 3 laps and you have yourself one tough cookie! To put this into perspective, Big Cottonwood Canyon gains about 3500 feet over about 16 miles. This course gained that much elevation in half the distance, on rocky singletrack!

Yada, yada, yada. Enjoy the pics!Start of the race

Coming down after the first lap

After the third lap, completely out of water and 100% bonked.

Our hero in the "tweety chair." For some reason, 4th place gets the chair.
