Results

I'm sure that everyone out there has just been dying to know the results of the race, so here they are. I came in 10th out of 13. Not my best showing, but also not my worst. I did beat my time from last year by about 5 minutes, and the course was slightly longer this year as well, so overall I felt good with the results.

another one about biking, sort of!

So as some of you are aware, I have been taking frontrunner to work and riding my bike. Inevitably as one rides a bike to and from work on the streets, an accident involving a car is bound to happen. Well, that incident happened to me today. I was riding home from the train station along 1300 south and west temple, by Franklin Covey Field, and this black Mercedes decides to turn into the parking lot right in front of me, and as I was cruising along, a collision was unavoidable, so Kablamo! I hit the right front tire of the car as I tried to swerve and miss the guy, and the force knocked me off my bike, onto my back. I was lucky I was wearing a helmet cause my head hit the ground pretty hard as well. So the guy immediately gets out of his car and starts apologizing. I look over my bike and realize that the front tire is very wobbly. The rim is completely bent, and will need to be replaced. The kicker is, this guy doesn't have insurance. Who drives a late model Mercedes, and doesn't have insurance?! Anyway, the guy wanted to take care of it personally (no kidding! he doesn't have insurance!), but I just had a weird feeling, so I called the police anyway. So the cop comes and we do the paperwork thing. But the guy doesn't have insurance and it's going to cost me 300 dollars or so to replace the front wheel. I just have a feeling I will never get the money from this guy, lame! So if anyone wants to donate to the "help Brian get a new front wheel" fund, you are more than welcome to.

PS, I am ok, and don't have any broken bones or anything, and thanks to Cheryl who came and picked me up after the incident!

Race update!

I finished the race. I didn't do as well as I had hoped. As soon as the race started, I could feel that it was going to be a long day, and I should have trained harder and better. It was particularly difficult having to run your bike up "yellow page hill." It is named this cause it's got everyone's number, or something like that. Meaning that no one is able to ride their bike up it cause it's so steep! My calves were on fire after making it to the top, both laps! But I digress, I came in 11th. At least that wasn't dead last like I finished in my last race (thanks to my flat tire).

Enjoy the pics!

This is the graph of the elevation change for the race. Note the total elevation gain!

Here I am finishing my first lap. Notice Nicole in the background cheering!

ok, so for whatever reason, it won't allow me to post the full size pictures here, lame! anyway, there was a total of 2724 feet of climbing for the race. Not too shabby for a day's work!

Race day!

Ok, for those of you who don't like reading posts about mountain biking, tough! This is my blog, and a blog by definition is a "personal online diary." So anyway, I have a race tomorrow (saturday) and I will be racing sport again, which is a category above what I raced last year. That means 22 miles of grueling torture and riding as fast and as hard as you can. Anyway, if you don't like reading about mountain biking, go visit another blog such as http://stuffwhitepeoplelike.wordpress.com/ oh, and while there, be sure to leave a comment that you don't like reading about stuff that white people like, and perhaps they should blog about something else!
