One more week, and we will be in sunnier St. George! What a nice break from the snow that will be! This is also the first race of the season, yay! For details go check out www.intermountaincup.com. I was also able to obtain some prototype lightweight racing tires from Maxxis for free that I am anxious to try out. They only weigh 285 grams (actually, the one I weighed was only 280 grams!) Keep in mind these are prototypes and aren't in production yet, so I feel pretty darn special! To put it into perspective, a typical tire on a huffy weighs 800 grams or so, and there are about 450 grams to a pound, for all us non metric users out there.
So given the equation:
time diff (seconds) = race time (minutes) * weight diff (g) / total mass (kg) * 0.048
you can calculate just how much faster I will be with uber lightweight tires!
