Take your blog to work day

Ok, I'll play along. These are pictures I took of the shop today. Enjoy!

What's wrong with this picture?

My trailer parked outside.

What a mess!

These doors will be getting installed soon. They are set up like this to dry after being sprayed with stain.

For lack of anything better to post.....

So I have decided to build a new entertainment center for down stairs to replace the unfinished one that is there that I am not too pleased with. There is a picture of that one on my "for a good time click here" link. This is a rough draft of what I envision it looking like. I still have to work the speakers in there somewhere, and I think I am going to locate all the equipment elsewhere in the room, which should be fun routing all the cables.......

So even though it looks similar to the one that is there now, the differences are subtle, but better. I am also open for suggestions, so if you have any, feel free to post them.

..............and finally back home

We finally made it home. The flight home went by pretty quickly, as we slept for most of the flight.

Highlights of the trip include:
-the road to Hana
-Haleakala crater (although it would have been better if it looked like this http://banana.ifa.hawaii.edu/crater/
-lots of fresh pineapple
-swimming with the sea turtles
-stumbling across the nude beach, on accident! (it was full of men, gross!)
-Cheryl accidentally flashing the whole beach during her wardrode malfunction while boogie boarding
-sunsets
-doing nothing at the beach!
-boogie boarding
-body surfing
-seeing the dolphins

More Maui

Not a whole lot to report, just wanted to post some pictures. I was going to try and post some video of dolphins we saw swimming, but I didn't bring a firewire cable, so that will have to wait. We went snorkeling today, and saw lots of fish, and a couple giant sea turtles. I took some pictures of them with the underwater disposable camera, so I will post those when they get developed. The turtles were huge though. Their shells were like 2 feet in diameter, and I could just swim about 5 feet above it for like 10 minutes. Pretty cool.

Brian boogie boarding.

Look at the size of this wave! Too bad I missed it!

More Maui

The north shore of Maui

It was colder than it looks!

Yesterday we started the day by going up to Hakeakala National Park to watch the sun rise over the crater, however, it was extremely windy, raining, and very foggy at the top, oh and did I mention, very, very cold?! So we didn't get to see the sunrise but that is ok. We drove back down the volcano to warmer temperatures. We then went to Lahaina and to kaanapali beach. That was fun and the beach was very nice. Not too much of an eventful day, just relaxing on the beach. We finished the day off at Big beach watching the sunset.

Today, we are going to go to a luau. That should be fun, and I am sure we will have pictures to post.

Maui, day 2

So today, we woke up early and headed to Hana. We were told this was a must do while in Maui. The drive was long and slow. The average speed limit is like 15 Mph, and the road is like 30 miles long. On the way back, we found the costco here in Maui. I think this Costco is busier than the ones back home. You still can get a hot dog and a soda for $1.50 though. Oh, and did you know that milk here is $10 a gallon?! That is crazy! I guess they don't have dairy cows here.

greetings from Los Angeles, Honolulu, Maui, and finally Kihei!

Hooray for us! We finally made it o Maui!!!! Our trip started well. We got on the flight to Los Angeles no problem. Then the flights to Maui were booked solid, and since we are flying standby, that means no go. Actually, I could have gotten on the plane, but then Cheryl would have been stranded. So we stayed in some dive of a hotel that night in the middle of what appeared to be Mexico. The next flight to hawaii was to Honolulu the next morning, so we changed our plans to try and get that flight, but that meant if we got on that one, we would have to fly from Honolulu to Maui, since we had already booked a condo there. So we got to the airport, and the flights did not look good, but then at the last minute, they called our names and we were on! yeah. So then Amy being the nice sister that she is, arranged our flights to Maui for us, since Delta doesn't fly between islands, we flew on Aloha air. It was a whopping $19 each for the flight that lasted about 20 minutes! So far so good. Now all we had to do was go find our luggage that arrived in Maui the night before. We got to the Delta baggage claim, to find that no one was there, and no one would be there either for 3 hours! We could see our bags in the cage locked up, but they couldn't open it for us without delta approving it. Finally we were able to convince one of the baggage workers for the airport to open it up for us since we were flying on buddy passes and couldn't claim anything stolen, or something like that.

Onto the rental car. This process took much longer than it needed to. We got to the place only to find a huge line. Arggh! We waited in line for what seemed to be forever. We got to the counter, and the girl asked us if we would like to upgrade to a minivan at no cost. Of course we said no thanks. It turns out they were out of compact cars. Did you ever see that Seinfeld where they went to go get their car, that they reserved, and it wasn't there? Yeah me too. So long story short, we talked her into a Jeep Wrangler at no extra cost. Sweet! The rest is history. We drove to the Condo, immediately changed and went to the beach! Now it is off to the store to buy food!

Keep checking back for updates and pictures as the week progresses.
