Today Rebecca and I walked down the hall and we passed a picture of the Savior. As we walked past the picture, Rebecca looked over and started smiling. I stopped for her to get a closer look at the picture. She just kept looking and smiling at the picture. Then, she reached her arms out to Him and started stroking His face while still smiling. For a moment I felt like time stood still. It was a beautiful moment and I was truly touched by the Spirit. Thank you baby girl for sharing that special moment with me!

Rebecca had her very first Halloween. She looked so cute in her costume! We took her to the ward Halloween party on Saturday night and then trick or treating to a couple of homes on Monday night. She was kind enough to share her 3 pieces of candy with mom and dad and Grandma and Grandpa gave her a cute Halloween book and some banana flavored puffs.

I just wanted to do a shout out to Brian! Life is so crazy for him right now, he gets up early every day and goes to school, then goes to work, gets home after 7:00 every night, spends time being a dad, does homework and still finds time to fix broken things around the house such as our washing machine. Rebecca and I want him to know how grateful we are for him and we are very proud of him and his accomplishments. Check out the teachers response on his last paper "One of the best in the class". Way to go Brian!

Fall Tradition at Silver Lake

Every fall Brian and I head up Big Cottonwood Canyon to walk around Silver Lake. This year we decided to go up in between Conference sessions on Sunday. We invited our friends the Fergusons to join us on our fall walk. The weather was perfect and the leaves were beautiful. I think everyone else in the Salt Lake Valley had the same idea. There were a ton of people up there and we even ran into Brian's sister and her family.

Halloween

I decided to start a new tradition this year and we had a pre Halloween visit from a little ghost. We all got pumpkins to carve and a little Halloween present. Rebecca got a fun book that lights up and makes Halloween noises and her first little trick or treat bag. Happy Halloween to my cute family!

Aquarium

Yesterday Rebecca and I went to The Living Planet Aquarium. Rebecca loves to watch the fish in the pond at my parents home so I thought she might like to see larger fish. As I would hold her so she could see the fish up close she would kick her legs and move her arms all around. I think she wanted to go swimming with them. Our favorite were the penguins. They were so fun to watch. One of the penguins came right up to the glass so I put Rebecca by the glass and she giggled at the penguin. It was a fun afternoon and fun to watch my little girl get excited about the fish. I bought a season pass so we will be going back often. It will be a fun activity to do in the winter time.

Last weekend we went on our ward campout to Aspen Meadows. It was the first trip with our trailer and Rebeccas first camping trip. We had a great time and look forward to more camping outings in the future.

Thanks to Matt and Nicole for letting us use the four wheelers and thanks for staying back with Rebecca while she napped so Brian and I could go out for a ride.

Some of you might know that we bought a trailer a few months ago. We have been working on it here and there and are now getting close to having a usable camper. The electrical is all done and the fridge works and can freeze water. Most of the panels are up and the sink is installed. It should be ready for our camping trip in august.

On Saturday I heard a little knock at my door and it was Anna, Bryton and Emmett coming to visit Rebecca. We went outside and played for an hour. Rebecca loves being around kids and loves to be outside. Thanks kids for coming over and playing.

I came across this Walmart bike sitting on the side of the trail in Draper. What many people don't know is that most of these Walmart bikes actually have stickers that warn the user that the bike isn't intended for off road use! Here's proof:

We spent our 4th of July hanging out with family, eating good food, and lots of fireworks. Rebecca loved watching all the kids run around and surprisingly she even seemed to enjoy the fireworks. She would jump every now and then but never cried and just watched the sky light up.

Rebecca was so happy at the race. She loves to be outside and her little arms and legs were going non stop. I'm in trouble when this kid learns to walk. According to Brian, in a few years Rebecca will be mtn bike racing.

Family Vacation

Brian and his friend Ruston have had a biking trip to St. George planned for several months. They were kind enough to let Rebecca and me join them. Rebecca and I went on walks and hung out in the air conditioned condo while the boys were out in the heat riding their bikes.

We took Rebecca to visit the St. George temple one evening and she was so happy to be outside. Here are some cute pictures of her enjoying her time outside on the temple grounds.

One day while the boys were out riding, Rebecca and I hung out at the pool with Ruston's wife Julie and Ruston's family. They had a shade canopy over the kiddy pool so I decided to take Rebecca for a little dip in the pool. She was such a good sport and seemed to really enjoy being in the water. The water temperature was perfect!

This was Rebecca's first road trip and we all had a great time in St. George, even though it was hot, hot, hot!

After over a year of wanting to try this, today was finally the day. You start with bacon, lots of it:

Once you have your bacon weave, blend in your favorite sweet chili sauce. Once that's done, get to work on cooking even more bacon.

Mix the bacon together with a bunch of sausage and wrap it all in your bacon weave:

Then let it cook for hours, literally. Hours. Be sure to douse it in maple syrup first though!

Then eat and enjoy. Afterwards go run a few miles to keep your arteries clear!

Isn't anyone curious about the first race of the year? I did exactly as well as I thought I would; 28th out of 31 people in my class. It's a whole different ball game racing against the really fast guys.

My plan this race was to start at the back and pick off as many other guys as I could. Mission accomplished. I beat 3 guys.

Our nieces spent the weekend with us and Mailee loved helping uncle Brian. She spent about an hour and half outside in the cold on Friday night helping Brian with the trailer. Brian said she was a great helper. Her favorite part was taking off the license plate.

A Few Observations:

Riding my bike to work allows me to be very observant of people and the cars they drive. Here are some of the things I have noticed while riding:

If you smell cigarette smoke, look around for the Pontiac. Chances are there is one around you and that is the smoker.

If you just about got run off the road by a car, it was a Mercedes or a BMW. They do afterall own the road and are just plain better than you and me and therefor they don't need to pay attention.

If you hear loud bass, look around for the 90s Honda Civic or Accord. There you will find a sub 25 year old male driver.

If you hear a car that sounds like it is dying, or sounds like a poorly tuned motorcycle, look for the Subaru WRX. Seriously, every one of these cars sounds horrible. I have never seen a female driver in one of these either.

If you hear a loud muffler it is always from the older Honda.

Waring: The following might be slightly racist. Don't read if that will offend you!
When you see an old Ford minivan, a person of Hispanic descent will be driving.

Did you know that Brian has a soft side? He does some of the sweetest things for me. He always sends me flowers on my birthday. He even sends me flowers, just because. Even though we have been married for 5 1/2 years he still picks up the phone sometimes and calls and asks me out on a date. He cleans up the dinner dishes. He helps me clean the house. He watches Dancing with the Stars with me, even though he hates the show. He goes with me to all my doctor appointments. He sends me sweet random text messages. He comforts me when I'm having a rough day. He builds fires to keep me warm and toasty and goes grocery shopping with me.
Brian, I love that I get to share forever with you! Happy Birthday tomorrow!!

Brian and I like to travel and I have to say, Brian is the best travel buddy! We have such a fun time together whether we are relaxing on the beach, hiking in the mountains, or chillin in the Caribbean. I love traveling with you, Brian and I look forward to many more vacations with you!

One thing Brian does not like is Seafood! I can't even cook salmon on the same grill as his steak. However, on our honeymoon, Brian ventured out and decided to try lobster. He actually ate the whole thing. I'm not sure it was his favorite but apparently it wasn't too bad. We had to take a picture to prove he tried it.

Brian is such a sweetheart and always opens the car door for me. He did it when we were dating and has continued for 5 1/2 years of marriage. I think that is a great quality and I love that he knows how to make me feel special. Sorry I don't have a picture to go along with the post.

We don't get out on the boat very much anymore but when we do, you should see Brian water ski and wake board. He is amazing! He can water ski like no other and is successful in jumping the wake on the wake board. He is fun to watch and like I've said before, very talented!

Brian's birthday is only a week away and I still have a list of fun facts to share. Brian loves chocolate and peanut butter. He has a signature chocolate and peanut butter treat that he makes and takes to parties. He puts a lot of effort into it and makes it look very presentable. Yummy!

Brian is so amazing and can do anything! He has built our kitchen cabinets, our bed, our bedroom dresser, our entertainment center, bookshelves, columns on our porch and he can fix anything. He is one talented individual! He's not afraid to get his hands dirty and has even taught me a few things over the years. Did you also know that Brian is going to be the most amazing dad to a little girl?!!!! I love you Brian and I think you are the bestest ever!!!

Brian loves U2! He can tell you the meaning of all their songs, which album they are on and so forth. He also loves going to their concerts. I had never been to a U2 concert until I met Brian. We have attended two concerts in Glendale, AZ, one in Salt Lake and one in Vancouver, Canada. We have GA tickets for the upcoming U2 concert in May. I must admit they do put on a good show.

Anyone who knows Brian, or anyone who reads our blog knows that Brian loves to Mtn Bike. Brian started racing about four years ago. I really enjoy going to the races, handing off the water bottle and cheering him on. It makes me so proud to see him cross the finish line knowing how hard he has trained for each race season.

So when all you people out there who drive minivans bought your van, were you required to adorn it with a Ragnar sticker before you could drive it off the lot? Seriously. Virtually every minivan has one of these stickers in the rear window. I guess every soccer mom out there trains hard for her 5 mile leg of the Wasatch Back to earn her sticker. So what is the big deal about this race? Is it so you can wear your New Balance shoes out in public so people will ask you for which marathon you are inevitably training, ala StuffWhitePeopleLike.com? (Seriously though, if you haven't read anything on StuffWhitePeopleLike, you should).

Brian Strikes Back!

So it has been almost 2 months since I broke my thumb riding down the Wasatch Crest (well, technically it was on Rattlesnake Gulch after the Crest). It was time for some payback, and this time, it's personal!

I started at the Mill D trailhead and rode my bike up the canyon to the top. Yeah, no biggie, it was only like 10 miles and 3,000 vertical feet to the top before the fun started.

Yes that is ice.

And now here's something we hope you'll really enjoy: I am still waiting for someone to claim their 10 points from the last video. 2 points to whomever can spot where I crash into a tree. 2 points for spotting the gay guy. And 2 points for spotting the shirtless Mexican. As an added bonus there are 2 U2 songs on the soundtrack that I am sure most people have never heard. 2 Points to whomever can tell me the names of the songs. Go!
